Matt McConkie Breaks the State Record and Wins the Thanksgiving Point Weigh-Off with A
1974 Lb Giant Pumpkin
Even the gray skies and cold wind could not put a damper on the excitement at the 17th annual Utah Giant Pumpkin Growers Weigh-off at Thanksgiving Point. Matt McConkie wowed the crowd with his massive Utah State Record pumpkin, demolishing his previous record, set in 2014, by 157 lbs.
Matt's pumpkin was grown from the 2261.5 Wallace seed. Matt brought his first pumpkin to a UGPG wiegh-off in 2008 and it weighed in at just 286 lbs. Matt is the undisputed top heavy hitter in Utah and has grown 6 of the 10 largest pumpkins ever grown in the state. This is the 4th time Matt has broken the State Record.
