Veteran Grower, Ross Bowman, Wins Weigh-Off with a 1170 Lb. Pumpkin
The crowd at Thanksgiving Point went wild when Ross Bowman's pumpkin topped the scales at 1170. This was the 14th year of growing for Utah's oldest and arguably most beloved grower, and the first time Ross has come away with the top award. This was not the largest pumpkin that Ross has grown, but it was large enough to win in what was considered a tough year for many Utah growers.
Ross's pumpkin was grown from the 1297 Holland seed. Ross brought his first pumpkin to a UGPG weigh-off in 2005 and it weighed in at 494 lbs. Ross has been a top grower ever since. He currently stands at 2nd place on Utah's heavy hitter list.
